Work continues

I spent quite some time today looking for related journal articles. I even contacted the NCU Library for help with one article (see screenshots below). I found some good ones. The articles will be used to justify hypotheses as well as the research design. Work continues.

I decided to change the research problem description and purpose. I worked on a draft last night. I now need to enter into the document and make edits.

On to the next assignment

I am now working on assignment 9. I need to provide a topic, research problem, research questions and other details for the signature assignment. I think I will continue/reuse a problem included in a previous paper. I think it needs to be quantitative...

Now working on assignment 8

I am now working on assignment 8. I basically need to refine the research problem, purpose of study, and research questions from the previous assignment and add some additional details.

I also discovered a glitch/bug. While logged into YouTube, I tried to share the video (from YouTube) to this blog and at the same time create a post, but the video transferred to my weight loss blog in error. I ended up creating the (this) post in Blogger rather than via YouTube.

Today, I received feedback on assignment 5 from the professor. I will now incorporate into assignment 6. Starting work on that assignment - a proposal for a qualitative project.
Next week it is on to quantitative.

Thinking of making changes...

I am thinking of changing one area. Instead of interviewing finance and IT non-managerial employees, I could interview managers (this comes from one of the papers I reviewed - A qualitative study of senior hospital managers' views on current and innovative strategies to improve hand hygiene). I would ask the managers whether they reviewed and considered ideas/success stories in other fields/occupations, among other questions. There is also a good case for interviewing non-managerial employees. I will think about this.

The assignment made me think of a paper I reviewed for another course (that assignment available here: http://www.slideshare.net/FahmeenaOdettaMoore/moorefbtm73005final). In the paper, the researchers developed typologies. I could do something similar. Very interesting!

Current draft. I should have no problems completing the paper by the deadline...

I received feedback from the professor and am currently making changes to the paper. I am basically rewriting the first sections (including details from a previous version and adding details). Should be a much stronger paper at the end.

Today, I spent about 30-50 minutes coming up with supplemental research questions that are even more qualitative. I did this away from the computer. Tomorrow, I will type and complete the assignment.

Work continues...

It's a new day! I am again working on my assignment. I have to focus on the qualitative approach for this assignment and I am realizing that there is more to the definition of qualitative research than I realize. Maybe the article I just scanned confused me a little....

Also, there was quite a lot of quantitative analysis in one of the articles from yesterday that used a survey to obtain information from employees. 

I thought my questions were "fully" qualitative. I have to think about this some more. If they are not qualitative, I need new research questions. Work continues.

And I am on to assignment 4...
It asks for a problem statement, statement of purpose and research questions. This means I have to refine the information I provided in assignment 3. Should be interesting.

I am currently searching for 3-5 scholarly articles to support the problem statement (as required by the assignment). There are a lot of really good articles, quite a few are prior to 2012.
